New England Match Longest Winning Streak Since Brady Years with Triumph Against Jets
First-year player Henderson has recorded five TDs during the current campaign
New England matched their best victory streak since the Brady era as they overcame AFC East opponents the Jets 27-14 in professional football
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three scores as the New England squad secured an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since iconic QB Tom Brady's last year with the team in 2019
QB Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 of 34 passes
The triumph bolsters the New England's advantage at the summit of the division as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets at the foot after slipping to a 2-8 mark
The opposing team had scored first at Gillette Stadium with QB Justin Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to cap the Jets' first possession
But the home team fought back in the second quarter as Henderson ran in two seven-yard TDs before the running back hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone halfway into the third quarter to extend the lead to 21-7
"That was a crucial moment for him rising to the challenge, and it's been excellent for him to keep gaining experience," Maye commented on the rookie. "He wants to be great."
Fields connected with John Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to close the gap for the visitors but Borregales kicked a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the Patriots sealed the triumph
