Thousands Left Without Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Powerful Storms
Around 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on the start of the week after powerful weather events swept through the state, producing strong winds reaching 109km/h.

Locals witnessed giant hailstones reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in some areas. Meteorological experts verified that different parts across the state had been affected by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair power throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams deployed to manage the extensive power failures.
Victorian Climate Difficulties
Simultaneously, approximately 1,000 households in the southern state also faced electricity disruptions after Melbourne saw its most precipitation in over 500 days.
Emergency response teams responded to 598 emergency reports across the area, mainly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

- Wyndham region - over 175 emergency requests
At one point on yesterday, in excess of 28k electricity consumers in the state were without power.
Weather Forecast
Moist weather were expected to linger along much of eastern Queensland this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
The following day was predicted as the wettest day, with persistent severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both states.
Medical Alert
Health officials warned that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, especially given the current weather patterns.
This alert comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the state.
